Our Dentists

Lori D. Nelson DDS

Dr. Nelson was born and raised in Albany, New York, and graduated from the State University of New York at Albany. She later graduated valedictorian of her class from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1983. Upon completion of a General Practice Residency with the United States Air Force in 1984, she moved to Florida and finished her military obligation at Patrick AFB. There she enjoyed serving her country and learning with some of the most esteemed and successful dentists in Brevard County.

Dr. Nelson has a passion for quality, ethical care with a strong emphasis on current procedures that optimize the health of patients. As such, her practice has focused on being mercury-free long before her colleagues. Her desire to be current in the many phases of dentistry is quite evident. Her commitment to excellence is equally obvious. She never ceases in her pursuit of knowledge; she avidly studies to learn better techniques, superior materials, and state of the art treatment modalities for her patients.

The fruit of her studies is evident in all areas of dentistry that she focuses on, including cosmetic dentistry, implant restoration, facial pain dysfunction, and the treatment of those with special needs. This latter interest was developed while in dental school as she began her internship at the Special Needs Clinic at the school. While many dentists do not treat patients with special needs, she and her staff openly welcome those who may require a special amount of time and attention thus following the Lord’s command to show compassion towards others.

Dr. Nelson proudly serves on the Board of Directors of Promise in Brevard. Most recently, the doctors and staff have volunteered their time to support the dental needs of Promise residents.

Emily L Millingen, DDS

Dr. Emily Millingen was raised on the island of Jamaica and moved to the United States for college with her family. She attended Florida International University where she obtained her Bachelor's in Biology. She continued her education at Barry University where she received her Masters in Biomedical Science. She graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry. There she was awarded by the Northeastern Society of Periodontics and the Academy of General Dentistry for her outstanding aptitude as a general dentist.

Community service and giving to others is very important to her. Over the last two years, she has participated in the Jamaica Dental mission trip, where she volunteers her time by treating the underserved in rural populations. She takes great pride in her work and always puts her patients first. She loves getting to know her patients and building personal relationships with them.

In her free time, Dr. Millingen enjoys animals of all sorts. She has been “mom” to numerous adopted cats and dogs. As an Island girl, going to the beach or being around any body of water is one of her favorite pastimes. She always enjoys exercising and is trying to get back into dance classes.

Nowadays, Dr. Millingen is getting the full “mom” experience after Shane, her husband, and she had baby Isla, their first daughter. They welcomed her into this world in August of 2019. Family and friends are vital to her so spending time with them is most important.

Dr. Millingen practices all aspects of General Dentistry and brings expertise in endodontics or root canal therapy to our practice. She enjoys learning about new and innovative approaches to dental care for her patients. It is her great pleasure to be working with Dr. Nelson, Dr. Brambila, and the exceptional dental team at Ultimate Smile Design.
